The Glam Guide Book Review

I have recently finished reading the book "The Glam Guide" by Fleur de Force and I thought I would share my opinions about the book with you. The book is a non-fiction written by the Youtuber Fleur De Force, were she has written about Beauty, Hair, Fashion, Travel etc. giving her tips and advice throughout the book.

I found this book so helpful especially when it came to the make-up section, although I feel quite confident applying everyday makeup I still lack some knowledge when it comes to this area. I learnt what type of eye shadow I should use based on my eye colour, how to create a Smokey eye look etc. Another area that I had lacked before I read this book was skin care, I know that I need to take my make-up off every night and moisturise in the morning but apart from that I didn't really know anything else. However this book has made me re-think my skin routine and I know realise that I need to apply more products, such as serum, to my face in the morning and evening.

The only sections of the book I didn't really like was "5 Easy Hairstyles for Every Day" now don't get me fleur is great at hairstyles but I feel like these are a bit boring and I know the title is "every day hairstyles" but I don't find them that appealing and actually I've tried some of these hairstyles myself and because my hair is shorter than Fleur's they don't work. I also don't like something she wrote in the "Health and Fitness" at the end she did "10 Quick Tips" and one of these tips were "I don't have energy isn't an excuse" I found this quite patronising as I know someone who has Fibromyalgia which is a medical condition meaning that they hardly ever any have any energy and if they did exercise when they had no energy it would damage their health. So having no energy isn't always because you’re lazy and she should have pointed this out in the book.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book despite the negatives that I have stated above, as it gave me some great advice and tips that I have actually taken on-board and I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is into beauty and lifestyle content.

May Favourites 2016

I have loved so many different products this past month, so I'll start with beauty, my first beauty favourite has been the Tanya Burr cosmetics Just Peachy lip gloss (that was a mouth full!) which is a light pinkie-peachy colour. I have been watching her YouTube videos for a while now and I was really intrigued to try her products as I enjoy watching her videos so I thought maybe I would enjoy using her products as well. Does that sound wired? I don't know it kind of makes sense to me. Anyway, I decided to buy a few of her products and I was actually surprised about how good the quality of the products is considering they are very reasonably priced. And my favourite is the Just peachy lip gloss because I love the colour of it and I think it goes so well with my skin tone as I have really pale skin, also it is so easy to apply and I really like the packaging which is a massive bonus to me!

My next favourite is the perfume Ari by Ariana Grande, it smells of sweet flowers to me which I love and is the perfect summer scent and I can’t wait to wear in more during the next few months. I was actually given it at Christmas but I've only really started to use it now. I would definitely recommend this perfume to anyone. Another beauty favourite of mine in May has been the JML Mineral Magic: Skin Perfecting Make-Up Powder, I picked this up whist I was shopping in boots curious to see if it actually works and it does, really well. It covers up my flaws and imperfections amazingly making my skin look so smooth and it even adds a bit of colour to my face. It has been a life saver a few times recently when I've needed to quickly pop out and I have not had enough time to put on a full face of make-up.

Moving onto fashion, since the weather has started to get better this past month I have been wearing my TOPSHOP MOTO button front A- line skirt (I think that's what it's called) practically every day! I love how it sits on me and it doesn't suffocate me like other skirts I have tried. It goes with basically any top to make an amazing outfit and I feel so confident wearing it. I have also loved my new black jeans from Topshop when the weather hasn't been that good in May, I have wanted a pair for months and I'm so glad I finally got one. It is so nice to have a pair of jeans that’s not navy and it makes my outfits look different when wearing them, it gives it that edge and I love it! I couldn't give them up now there so special to me, I didn't think I could get this attached to jeans.

Now let’s talk about FOOD, something that I have kind of been obsessed with in May is Nutella, I have been eating it probably every day after my lunch with digestive biscuits. I know it’s not great to eat it that often but to be honest I don't have an excuse it is just so nice! The favourite thing that I have done in May was going to "Warner Bros. Studio Tour London-The Making of Harry Potter" and it was absolutely amazing and I'm so glad I went. I loved seeing so many costumes, props and sets from the films; it was like a dream come true. If you want to know more about my incredible experience at the Harry Potter Studios you can read my last blog post called "Harry Potter Studios" where I have written more about the tour in detail.

Harry Potter Studios

The other day I went to the Harry Potter Studios near London and I was not disappointed! I was shown around the great Hall and got to see some of the sets such as the cupboard under the stairs, the Gryffindor common room, Dumbledore’s office,  Platform 9 3/4 , Diagon alley etc. It seemed so wired seeing the sets and props from the films but it was also a magical experience I will never forget and I would recommend going to anyone, even my dad enjoyed it and he hasn’t seen any of the films or read any of the books. I even got to try some butter bear which was surprisingly nice and I was able to buy a chocolate frog and it came with a wizard card just like in the film. I was even taught how to use a wand, how to ride a broom stick and I even got to go on the Hogwarts express! Do you know what made it even better? There was a Starbucks there!! OMG I was so happy.

Overall, I had an amazing and magical time at the Harry Potter and if you are considering going, go you will not regret it!

Glossybox Review

Recently I decided to subscribe Glossybox a company which delivers 5 beauty products to your door once a month as I had seen that they offer 30% off your first 2 boxes on the UNIDAYS app (where you can get discounts at different shops and websites if you're a student) and this is the starter kit box I received. This is not sponsored by Glossybox.

I was very impressed with the quality of the packaging and the way the whole box was presented and the fact that it was pink my favourite colour was a bonus and I will definitely be using the box again.
This is an overlook at the products inside the box. It included:
A Wilkinson Sword Intuition, ultra-moisture razor. I have tried this razor and in my opinion it is amazing, you don't need any shaving cream when using, it gets rid of the hairs really quickly without hurting and it leaves the skin so smooth and soft to touch. I will absolutely be repurchasing this again.
A NAOBAY, protective hair mask- volume conditioner. I have also tried this product and I am again very impressed, not only do I love the packaging (I really like packaging for some reason) but the smell is divine it smells like gingerbread with an extra spice and I know it doesn't really sound good but believe me it is and my hair still smelled of it even after I had washed it out, I think this smell would be a great Autumn smell. The mask conditioned my hair and I look forward to using it again.
A The Vintage Cosmetic Company, floral slanted tweezers. Unlike the other products so far I have not used this yet as I already have a pair of tweezers similar to this that I am currently using so I will either keep this a backup or I will give it to a friend as the one I currently use has a better design. But I do think that it is a unique and pretty design.
A Royal Apothic, Lip tinties. I have tried this product and I am mostly impressed. It makes the lips feel smooth and soft, it makes the lips look slightly darker which I like, it smells yummy and makes me want it eat it (not literally but you know what I mean) and I have to talk about the packaging I am in love with it, the rose gold top is beautiful!!! The only things I don't like about the product is how it's quite hard it is to get the lip butter out of the container and that there isn't that much product inside which I find disappointing.
A Nicka K New York, 24/4 Waterproof Eyeliner. I have tried this product and I have mixed reviews about it. I really like the colour as I think it goes well with my green eyes and it's nice to have eyeliner that isn't the usual black colour and it glides really nicely onto my skin. However, I found it really hard to smudge it under my eye as I like to create a smudge effect there and when I did finally smudge it didn't look nice at all. Because of this I think I would like to buy a brown eyeliner again but probably not this one.
Overall I am really impressed with the quality of most of the products sent to me by Glossybox and I am very glad that I decided to subscribe to this service and will continue to use most of these products. Just to say all opinions expressed above are my own and I paid for this box myself.
